The invention relates to a dental power instrument, in particular an endodontic instrument, comprising an operative part (2) and a handle (3) which is disposed at the opposite end to said operative part (2). The invention is characterised in that the handle (3) of the dental instrument is equipped with a rotary drive means (4) which, when mounted in the head (5) of a handpiece, can engage directly with a rotary drive means upstream of said head. Moreover, the aforementioned drive means (4) can be retracted independently of the means used to drive the handpiece head and said drive means (4) rotates in the same direction as the handpiece head drive means. The invention also relates to a handpiece head and a dispenser for such dental power instruments.
