PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of performing photographing without losing a shutter chance, preventing occurrence of camera-shake and attaining consecutive shots. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes a primary memory (A, B, C, D) for storing image data, sequentially stores image data to e.g., the areas (A, B) of the primary memory before a release switch 11 is turned on, stores the image data after switch-on to the remaining areas (C, D) of the primary memory, records the image data stored in the primary memory to a recording medium 10, and uses a mode setting switch 13 to optionally set the areas (A, B) and (C, D) of the primary memory before and after the switch-on.
