PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle designation device and a method for it designating a vehicle required to response to polling by a single polling signal for making only the designated vehicle respond to polling for preventing unnecessary use of a radio line and improving data precision when data collection is carried out by polling. SOLUTION: This vehicle designation device is provided with a status information storage means 6 storing the latest status information of the vehicle, a response designation information creation means 4 creating response designation information from the information stored in the status information storage means 6, and a polling means polling after adding the response designation information to the polling signal. The polling objective vehicle is clearly indicated in the polling signal, while response designation data making only the vehicle, which is required to respond after designation of the polling object vehicle, respond is added to the inside of the polling signal.
