<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute a metal layer so as not to be exposed to the exterior in a carbon base material having the metal layer so as to connect a metal material to a carbon layer. <P>SOLUTION: The carbon base material 1 is constituted by using the carbon layer 2 and a plurality of metal layer pieces 3 provided in an exposure state to the connecting side surface of the carbon layer 2 to the metal material 4. The metal material 4 is connected to the exposed parts of the metal layer pieces 3 via a soldering means.
