PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation of an effective image quality to all kinds of images by an appropriate trapping process in an image processing apparatus which outputs received printing data to a printing engine after giving image processing to the data and turning the data to printable data. SOLUTION: In relation to the image processing apparatus 2 which converts the received printing data 1 to bit map data with both data on colors and attribute data indicative of kinds of images, carries out image processing to the bit map data and outputs the data after the processing to the printing engine 3, the image processing apparatus 2 has recording means 252 and 253 for recording setting information set corresponding to the kinds of images and related to contents of the trapping process of enlarging an edge part where the color changes; a selecting means 251 for selecting the setting information corresponding to the kinds of images indicated by the attribute data among the setting information recorded by the recording means; and a trapping process means 254 for carrying out the trapping process on the basis of the data on colors of the bit map data, and the setting information selected by the selecting means 251.
