A method for filling the gaps between paving slabs with a load carrying capacity has a two part joint fitted to a slab edge and linking with a similar joint on the adjacent slab. The joint is made a plastic reinforced with short fibres. One part of the joint comprises an angled edge strip (16) fitted over the top edge of the slab and with a socket slot (18) on the vertical edge to take profiled strip joint (22) attached to a forked component (24) whose forked profile has a sliding grip with a similar profile attached to the adjacent slab.
