A delivery system of a dosed therapeutic gas to a patient, has a stage that clears the system of hazardous or undesired substances by flushing through with one or more different gases and/or by suction. In the delivery of a dosed therapeutic gas to a patient, a working stage clears the system of hazardous or undesired substances by flushing through with one or more different gases and/or by suction. The therapeutic gases for delivery to the patient include NO, CO or CO mixtures to stimulate breathing, H2 mixtures, N2O mixtures, FF8 mixtures, nitrous ethanol or anesthetic gases. The flushing gases can include air, O2, N2, Ar, Xe, He, SF6 or an anesthetic gas. The flushing/suction action is controlled by time, sensors or events. The gas delivery system has gas delivery lines (L1,L2), connected to gas bottles (1,3). The gas lines have a pressure meter (2), a flow control (4) and a gas valve (6). A suction line is linked to a vacuum pump. |
