PURPOSE: A memory card having a flash memory chip, a controller chip, and an IC card chip is provided to improve security of an operation according to an application program by processing data related to the application program within a memory device and restrict data violation caused by making a memory assigned to the application program accessed from other application program. CONSTITUTION: The memory card(110) has a storage function to read/write file data or a security processing function to perform a password operation needed for classified data protecting or personal certification by making an external host device(160) issue a memory card command based on a protocol of a multimedia card specification. The host is a mobile phone, a PDA(Personal Digital Assistant), a PC, a music player, a video camera, an ATM(Automated Teller Machine), and a settlement terminal. The memory card includes an external port(140), the controller chip(120), the flash memory chip(130), and the IC card chip(150). Issuing an IC card command to the IC card chip from the external terminal, the IC card chip performs the operation needed for a security process requested from the host device.
