The system has a user terminal (T) associated to a x-digital subscriber loop (DSL) modem (10) that is connected to one x-DSL port of a DSL access multiplexer (35), and to a signal gateway (40). The multiplexer establishes or removes a connection between one port and the modem based on command from a management server (50) and from the attribution ports that communicate with the signal gateway. An independent claim is also included for a method of accessing a broad-band data network.
