Safety flare (1) comprises a cylindrical liner (2) containing a pyrotechnic composition provided with a lighting device. The composition burns in two successive combustion stages. The first stage is a slow functioning stage and the second stage is an active functioning stage. The first and second stages correspond to the combustion of first (5) and second (4) pyrotechnic compositions, respectively.
