PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus for realizing a more vivid image by uniformly increasing the saturation of the entire image without causing an overflow when the saturation of the image is corrected. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus corrects the saturation of the image by converting the saturation of the image in a first color space on the basis of a prescribed parameter. The image processing apparatus has functions that calculates the maximum saturation of the image when the saturation is converted by the prescribed parameter (step S503), selects a second color space on the basis of the calculated maximum saturation (step S507), converts the image into the second color space (step S507), corrects the prescribed parameter on the basis of the attribute of the selected second color space and the attribute of the first color space (step S508), and converts the saturation of the image converted into the second color space by the parameter after the correction (step S509).
