PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent device having a good light-emitting property and a life property.

SOLUTION: The electroluminescent device 1 has a light-emitting layer 6, and a light-emitting area 8 in the light-emitting layer 6 is located at a position distant from an interface 9 between the light-emitting layer 6 and a hole injection/transport layer 5 as a function layer adjacent to the light-emitting layer 6 by a prescribed distance d3, and distant from an interface 10 between the light-emitting layer 6 and a negative electrode 7 by a prescribed distance d4, in a direction of the film thickness.
