PURPOSE: A top loading type disk drive is provided to prevent a disk from being separated from a turntable even if the disk receives a shock while rotating, thereby preventing damage of the disk. CONSTITUTION: A main body(30) has parts for rotating a disk(D) and for recording and reproducing signals, and has a disk securing surface(42) on a top side. A cover(32) has one end connected with the main body for opening and shutting to selectively shield the top side. A plurality of protective ribs(50) are formed on an inner surface of the cover corresponding to an outer peripheral area(dr) of the disk to be secured on the disk securing surface, protruded toward the outer peripheral area. The plurality of protective ribs are formed at certain gaps, having a predetermined gap with the outer peripheral area in a state that the disk is secured on the disk securing surface.
