PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device which can drive a mechanism for maintaining the recording characteristics of a recording head, by a compact and simple constitution. SOLUTION: A suction pump part, a cap part and a wiper part are set at a recovery part for maintaining the recording performance of the recording head. The suction pump part operates via a spring clutch mechanism while an LF motor of a transfer part for transferring a recording sheet is used as a drive source, and the cap part and the wiper part operate with an AP motor being used as a drive source within a rotation dead zone set to a paper feed part for feeding the recording sheet to the transfer part.
