<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine structure for an outboard motor capable of achieving shortening of a chain, and making an engine lightweight. <P>SOLUTION: In the outboard motor, a pair of cylinder blocks 19 are disposed in a V-shape form on an engine holder, a crankshaft 4 is roughly perpendicularly disposed on the inside of it, and a drive shaft 12 is connected through connection members 13a and 13b to the crankshaft 4. In a cam housing 37 that is coupled to an upper surface of an engine holer through a gasket, and formed at the back of a cylinder head 18, an intake camshaft 34 and an exhaust camshaft 35 to open/close intake/exhaust valves are disposed in a housing 37 in parallel to the crankshaft 4. Cam chains 59 and 60 are wound between a timing drive sprocket 56 provided on a connection member 13b and a cam sprocket 57 on the camshaft 34 disposed on the side of a V-bank 21 formed between the right and the left cylinder blocks 19. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
