Device for aligning sheets (2) in an extension arm of a sheet-processing machine, especially a printing machine, comprises at least one aligning plate (5) moved by a drive (4), assigned to a spindle (8), and adjustable to different formats. On collision with moved elements in the extension arm, the aligning plate is movably arranged in a deflecting direction (11) on actuation of a switch element (9) to control the drive devices moving the elements. The spindle supports a frame (10) having a first frame part (10.1) fixed relative to the spindle and a second frame part (10.2) moving relative to the spindle in the deflecting direction. The aligning plate is arranged on the second frame part and one of the two frame parts supports the switch element formed by the other frame part.
