<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet number control device by which the number of as many sheets as possible is set by smaller memory capacity and also counting is performed at a small unit. <P>SOLUTION: The sheet number control device sets the number of sheets by allocating two digits to an exponential part and remaining 14 digits to a mantissa part by using a memory having the capacity of two bytes allocated for each section. Thus, since the number of sheets is set by allocating two digits to the exponential part and the remaining 14 digits to the mantissa part by using the memory having the capacity of two bytes allocated for each section, the upper limit of the number of sheets is set as 2<SP>14</SP>X 10<SP>3</SP>= 16,384,000. Also, even though the number of sheets is set only up to 2<SP>16</SP>= 65,536 in the case of entirely using two bytes to the exponential part, the remarkably large number of sheets is set. However, since lower zero digit to lower three digits are fixed as zero in accordance with a numeric value, setting is made more rough for a larger number, and it is normally considered that a fine numerical value is not important when a number becomes larger, so that there is practically no problem. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
