PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preparation for external use that has excellent antioxidant properties to prevent active oxygen in a living body and lipid peroxide originating therefrom and can prevent/alleviate the pigmentation in human skin. SOLUTION: This preparation for external use having excellent storage stability comprises a compound represented by formula (1) (wherein R1, R2are each one or more selected from the group consisting of H, an alkyl, an acyl, ethylene oxide, an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal) and/or a salt thereof, a polyhydric alcohol and a sequestering agent.
