PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a recording head from being clogged while maintenance is carried out. SOLUTION: This inkjet printer 1 comprises recording heads 7-10 for ejecting ink of which the viscosity decreases with a rising in the temperature, temperature sensors (not shown in the figure) each for detecting the temperature of the ink in the respective recording heads 7-10, heaters (not shown in the figure) for heating the ink in the recording heads 7-10, a controller (not shown in the figure) for controlling the heaters based on the detected results of the temperature sensors, and a maintenance mechanism 30 that performs a maintenance operation for the recording heads 7-10 by receiving the ink produced by idling ejection of the recording heads 7-10 and sucking the ink from the recording heads 7-10. The ink in the recording heads 7-10 is ejected by the idling or sucked in a condition that the heaters are controlled based on the detected results of the temperature sensors by the controller while the maintenance mechanism 30 performs the maintenance operation for the recording heads 7-10.
