A method for monitoring and communicating with a plurality of moveable platforms (23) using analog signals comprising the steps of activating an alarm signal associated with one of the plurality of moveable platforms (23), encoding the alarm signal into an analog Dual Tone Multiple Frequency (DTMF) signal corresponding to a unique code of one of the plurality of moveable platforms (23), transmitting the analog DTMF signal via a bus media (31) to a DTMF decoder, decoding the analog DTMF signal into a digital format to obtain the unique code, and enabling analog voice communication between a remote site and the one of the plurality of moveable platforms (23) corresponding to the decoded analog DTMF signal.
