<p>A fluorescence imaging effective in local observation of a protein in a cell and enabling multiple simultaneous excitation fluorescence observation, too. An imaging system comprises a vertical illuminating system (13) for emitting an excitation light and illuminating a sample (3) to cause a fluorescent dye or a luminophor contained in the sample (3) to emit light, a microscope optical system (1) for fluorescence observation having lenses (10a, 10b), an exciter filter (16) for selectively transmitting light from an excitation light source (17), and a dichroic mirror (11b) for reflecting the excitation light toward the sample and transmitting fluorescence from the sample (3), and a digital recording system (2) for recording imaged fluorescence having an emission filter (18) for transmitting only the fluorescence passing through the microscope optical system (1). The illuminating excitation light source (17) is composed of small light-emitting devices such as semiconductor lasers or light-emitting diodes with different light wavelengths capable of excitation both for each wavelength and for a combination of arbitrarily selected wavelengths.</p> |
