PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology preventing a timber from decaying and cracking. SOLUTION: A timber treating agent composed of a weakly acidic or neutral water solution containing a methylol phenol monomer is impregnated under pressure into a timber to be treated. After that it is dried and heated. Then the monomer is cured and becomes a resin which penetrates the cell wall of the timber. Thereby, the timber stabilized for a long time is obtained. The timber treating device used for treating the timber composes a chemical feeding section which has a feed can for feeding under pressure the treating agent and its auxiliary units and is held in a constant temperature chamber, and a drying/heating section.
