<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for removing an unwanted portion capable of removing unnecessary information in short times. <P>SOLUTION: The pixel values of a predetermined area of image data are frequency converted on rectangular area-basis, hierarchical compression coding is performed, and code string data are thereby generated, of which the syntax is analyzed for finding a packet length of each rectangular area (S2 to S3). Based on the packet lengths, the unwanted information in the image data, which is not necessary in a normal situation, is removed (S5). Thus, without complex procedures in which the code string data is decoded and then dequantized, the unnecessary information in the image data, which is not necessary in a normal situation, can be removed so that the removal of the unnecessary information is performed at short times. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
