PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slip processing method hardly influenced by the noise of reading errors or the like. SOLUTION: A slip processing system is provided with image input means such as a scanner and a camera, reads a slip image in the image input means and binarizes image data. The image input means is connected through a bus to input means such as a processor and a keyboard and output means such as a display and a printer. The processor is a processing means for executing the slip processing method relating to this invention and is provided with an image feature value extraction means and a character recognition means. The image data binarized in the image input means 2 are sent to the image feature value extraction means inside the processor. For the inputted slip image, in the image feature value extraction means, the feature value of a slip is extracted on the basis of areas characteristic to the slip such as a table area, a text area, a picture (halftone image) area and a frame area from the binarized image data of the slip image. Whether or not the input slip is already registered is determined based on the feature value and a prescribed allowance condition.
