PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element retreat mechanism for a lens barrel capable of highly accurately driving an optical element which is retreated to a position different from a photographing optical axis and moves backward in a storage state. SOLUTION: The optical element retreat mechanism for the lens barrel is provided with a 2nd optical element arranged before or behind a retreat optical element, a pair of parallel planar parts which are arranged on a straight advancing/retreating ring and which are separated from each other before and behind the 2nd optical element and which are orthogonal to the optical axis, a shaft insertion cavity passing through the pair of parallel planar parts in the optical axis direction so as not to overlap with the 2nd optical element, and a pair of shaft supporting plates for supporting both end parts of the rotating center shaft of a rocking member inserted into the shaft insertion cavity while nipping the pair of parallel planar parts before and behind.
