<p>The assembly to feed fibers to a textile machine, and especially a carding machine, has a monitor (8) with at least two sensors (9) spaced apart across the direction of the fiber mat movement. A unit to determine the fiber distribution is in front of the filling shaft (6), across the width of the fiber mat being formed, with at least two sections (11) each with components to set the fiber packing density. A control sets the operation of the packing density components, according to signals from the monitor (8), to give a consistent fiber mat. The sensors (9) are weight sensors. The packing density is set at the filling chamber (2), where the chamber walls (11) act on the fiber material to compress it, with adjustable ventilation openings to vary their dimensions to control air escape. A one-piece roller can also be used, where the gap between the fiber mat and the ends of the roller can be set separately, or the roller can be in a number of sections, where each section can be positioned independently to vary the gaps between them and the fiber mat.</p> |
