<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for stable operation of a printing unit of a rotary press, an offset rotary press in particular, during operation using a narrow material to be printed, which prevents ink from drying on a non-printing region between a roller and a barrel of the printing unit thereby keeping adhesiveness at a low level so as to reduce danger that a web may break. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus universally applies, using blast air 37, a thin film of a non-fluid protective agent 14 via a distributing nozzle 13 to form thin protective films on non-printing regions 11 and 12 of a roller 9 of ink devices 19 and 20 or dampening devices 21 and 22 and/or non-printing regions 11 and 12 of at least one of transfer cylinders 15 and 16 or plate cylinders 17 and 18. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
