In a source system, a source system component having a changeable source system object is selected for use in a target system. A system component having a changeable system object is imported into an interface system on the basis of the source system component having the changeable source system object. A target system component having a changeable target system object is imported into the target system on the basis of the system component having the changeable system object. An item of reference information for the source system component and an additional item of reference information for the source system component are generated in the interface system and are electronically stored in a memory device. A change in the changeable source system object in the source system or in the changeable target system object in the target system is automatically detected in the source system/target system.
