<p>A method and system are provided for distributed processing of hybrid mail (figure 1). The system comprises gateways (9) that collect and store variable data, system management site (3) having storage for fixed data, and mail production sites (1). The gateways (9) shared among customers, group the data by geographic location, and transmit the variable data to one of the appropriate geographically located mail production facilities (1). The mail production facility (1) sends a transmission to the system management site (3), responsive to receiving variable data from the gateway (9), requesting and receiving the corresponding fixed data. The mail production sites (1) produce mail pieces, including the fixed data and the corresponding variable data. The finished mail pieces are further sorted and produced for geographically grouped mailings.</p> |
