<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition for a color filter with pigment stably dispersed in a pigment carrier without causing coagulation, and a color filter having a high contrast ratio and superior various resistances. <P>SOLUTION: This coloring composition for the color filter contains the pigment carrier comprising transparent resin, its precursor or a mixture thereof and pigment. The pigment is a processed pigment obtained by treating an aqueous suspension of an organic pigment using a water insoluble monomer or an oligomer with a molecular weight of 200-10,000, having fluidity at room temperature.
