PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an edge-having base member for a felt for papermaking, facilitating the penetration of a core wire S at the operation for extending and inserting the felt for the papermaking by reducing the dispersion (▵h×2) in inner diameters of seam loops L formed by the displacement in the upper and lower direction of a yarn material in the MD direction without reconstructing a loom or without increasing production man-power. SOLUTION: The edge-having base member for the felt for the papermaking comprises the MD yarn material arranged in each layer forming both surfaces and continuing in the MD direction, and a CD yarn material interwoven with the MD yarn material so as to connect each layer and arranged in the CD direction, and has core wire-fitting loop parts formed at both edge parts by the continuous MD yarn material. The base member has adjusting yarns in the CD direction which are not interwoven with the MD yarn material at the terminal edges of the end parts in the CD material.
