A method and apparatus of managing e-mails creates transitory or temporary e-mail addresses from which e-mails are sent, the transitory e-mail addresses being arranged to expire after a predetermined period of time. The expiry period is chosen such that third parties do not have sufficient time to acquire the transitory e-mail address and to send large volumes of unsolicited e-mail to it such as SPAM. The temporary e-mail address may expire after the number of received e-mails exceed a predetermined value in any given time period. The method may include the step of forwarding e-mails received at said temporary e-mail address to a permanent e-mail address. The temporary e-mail address may be assigned to a random name at the time of its creation.
