The intermediate profile (30) has end lips (35) which decrease in size in an upwards direction from the bottom edge of the lip, parallel to the profile web (12). The intermediate profile has a substantially inverted T-shaped cross-section and forms part of a grid for holding false ceiling panels. The rest of the grid is formed by main profiles (1) which extend transverse to the intermediate profiles and have a substantially U-shaped cross- section. Each end of the intermediate profile has a lip extending substantially parallel to the profile web and intended to be inserted into a vertical slot in a vertical flange (3) on the main profile.
