PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a fine grain multilayer metallic material which can realize fine crystal grains by obtaining a large working ratio without causing saturation of the dimensional reduction of the grain size and further realize the improvement of yield because the trimming of the ends in the width is not required and to provide manufacturing equipment. SOLUTION: When manufacturing the fine grain multilayer metallic material 13 by repeating rolling passes in which a plurality of metallic sheets 11, 11a are rolled by putting the sheets one over another and joining them and a plurality of the obtained intermediate rolled materials 12, 12a are again rolled putting the rolled materials one over another and joining them, one or more rolling passes where the rolling speeds of upper and lower work rolls 22, 22a are made different are performed. In this way, large shearing stress is added over the whole area in the thickness direction by the different speed rolling and a large working ratio is obtained. As compared with ordinary rolling, the saturation of the reduction of grain size is suppressed and the crystal grains are made finer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
