PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink suction method for an ink jet head which performs ink suction efficiently while realizing space-saving and cost-saving, and to provide suction equipment and an ink jet printer. SOLUTION: The ink jet head faces head unit 42, of which carriage 41 carries two or more ink jet heads 10. Ink suction is performed for each ink jet head using ink suction method 72. At least, one or more ink jet heads which perform ink suction are designated among a plurality of ink jet head, ink suction amount is designated, and ink suction is performed for each ink jet head according to these designations.
