PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve rice cooking performance by preventing outflow of steam due to opening a lid during the supply of steam. SOLUTION: This rice cooker includes: a pot 31; a pot heating means 34 heating the pot 31; a steam generating means 38 generating steam; a heating control means 39 controlling the pot heating means 34 and the steam generating means 38; a steam passage 43, one end of which is communicated with the steam generating means 38, the other end thereof being opened to the inside of the pot; and a steam detecting means 44. The rice cooker is provided with an informing means 40 for informing the generation of steam when the steam detecting means 44 detects steam. Thus, the supply of superheated steam to the inside of the pot is informed to a user, whereby the user can be prevented from opening a lid body by mistake so that the rice cooking performance can be improved by the effect of superheated steam.
