PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic wave absorber that can be manufactured easily, shows stable electromagnetic wave absorption characteristics in a gigahertz (GHz) frequency band at normal temperature, and can form a solid structure. SOLUTION: This electromagnetic wave absorber is characterised by being constituted of a ceramic and manufactured by molding a mixture of an alumina-based ceramic raw material and a carbon source, and baking the molded body in a reducing atmosphere maintained at a temperature of≥1,400°C.
