PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handrail intrusion port safety device for a passenger conveyor capable of securely stopping the passenger conveyor when catching an obstacle and separating a protection body to release the obstacle quickly. SOLUTION: The protection body 6 is divided to reach one end side from the other end at a central position in the peripheral direction. An electromagnet 14 is arranged on a separation face in the vicinity of the first divided protection body, and a magnetic metal plate is arranged on a separation face of the second divided protection body. When a switch 11 is not operated, electric power is supplied to the electromagnet 14 to attract the magnetic metal plate and close (connect) the first and second protection bodies. When the switch 11 is operated, the passenger conveyor is stopped, and supply of electric power to the electromagnet 14 is stopped to open (separate) the first and second protection bodies.
