Improvements in or relating to centrifugal separators

The temperature of the liquid in the bowl of a centrifugal clarifier is controlled by circulating air or gas therearound from the bowl axis towards its periphery, and thence through a heater or cooler, and back to the bowl axis. The casing surrounding the bowl is stationary and has a drain pipe for waste liquid provided with a liquid trap to prevent loss of the gas. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that the temperature of the liquid in the bowl may be controlled by spraying gas or liquid on to the bowl. Alternatively, to prevent heat transfer through the bowl, the bowl is coated with heat insulating material. Insulating material may also be placed between a rustless steel lining and the shell of the bowl. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
