TRANSCRIPTIONAL REGULATION OF CRLR AND USES THEREOF

The present specification relates to new therapeutic treatments and methods of screening for therapeutic compounds arising from identification of regulatory elements in the promoter region of the calcitonin receptor-like receptor (CRLR) gene in microvascular endothelial cells. These regulatory elements include glucocorticoid receptor binding sites which are of particular interest in relation to, for example, hypertension arising from glucocorticoid administration and other conditions where it is desired to increase adrenomedullin signalling via the CRLR, e.g. any condition where it is desired to promote vasodilation and/or angiogenesis.
