PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely separate the piled sheets one by one to carry them by restricting a trouble such as the generation of disorder in tip parts of the sheets due to an air flow. SOLUTION: This sheet feeding device 1 has a suction type carrying means 4 for sucking the paper sheets 2 to carry them, a sheet separating device 5 for injecting an air flow to an end surface of a printing paper sheet bundle set on the downstream side in the carrying direction to form a clearance between the sheets, a pushing means 6 for selectively pushing the top surface of the printing paper sheets 2 set on the upstream side in the carrying direction, and a paper sheet position detection sensor 7 for detecting position of the printing paper sheet 2 positioning at the tip (the top position) closest to the suction type carrying means 4. The sheet separating device 5 has an injection nozzle 24 capable of swinging in the piling direction of the printing paper sheets 2. The upper end of the paper sheets are gradually separated by an upward displacement of the injection nozzle 24, and the suction type carrying means 4 starts carrying in the predetermined timing.
