PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent production or remaining of the material refuse of an alignment film near the edge of a pixel electrode or near a contact hole and to prevent irregular luminance or display irregularity in an electro-optic apparatus such as a liquid crystal device. SOLUTION: The electro-optic apparatus is equipped with a TFT (30) on a substrate (10) and with a pixel electrode (9a) connected to a junction electrode (402) via a contact hole (89) on the TFT. A protective insulating film (501) which covers the end face in the edge part of the pixel is formed on the pixel electrode in the area across from the gap of the pixel electrode to the edge of the pixel electrode.
