PURPOSE: A method for controlling transmission power of an uplink signal and a communication terminal therefore are provided to reduce power consumption of a terminal and improve an uplink coverage. CONSTITUTION: A power adjustment value detector(30) detects a power adjustment value from power control commands respectively transmitted from base stations while a communication terminal performs handoff. A transmission power determining unit(20) determines power of a signal to be transmitted to the base stations by using an average value of the power adjustment values for the base stations, the power adjustment values for the base stations and/or the calculated average value.
