FIELD: plastic metal working, namely processes for cold die forging of nuts. ^ SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of cutting off blank, upsetting it, first preliminary shaping of protrusion with dead opening; second preliminary shaping of protrusion and simultaneous preliminary shaping of hexahedron surface; final shaping of protrusion and hexahedron surface and punching hole. Outer diameter of protrusion formed at first preliminary shaping of protrusion with dead opening is more than maximum diameter outer diameter of protrusion of ready nut. Second preliminary shaping of protrusion is realized by reducing outer diameter of protrusion formed after first preliminary shaping. During final shaping of protrusion and hexahedron surface flange is formed at side of said surface. Preliminary shaping of hexahedron surface is realized with size for driver S1 =(0.8 - 0.98)D cos30 degrees, where D - maximum outer diameter of protrusion of ready nut. ^ EFFECT: enhanced strength of tool for making different-height nuts of hard-to-form materials having cylinder- or cone-shaped protrusions. ^ 3 cl, 2 dwg
