PURPOSE: An automatic lighting method and a device thereof are provided to safely drive in a tunnel or at a foggy day by automatically turning on a variable brake light according to the stepped strength of a brake pedal at a sudden braking. CONSTITUTION: The degrees of clearances when a brake pedal is stepped are detected in stages. A brake light is displayed in the stages according to the detected degrees. In reaching the clearance distance of the brake pedal to the maximum value, an emergency light is turned on automatically. An LED(Light Emitting diode) display panel(100) comprising many LEDs in stages is arranged. Switches(200) are formed in the brake pedal to transfer detected signals to the LED display panel after detecting the clearance distances of the pedal in stages. A switch is installed under the switch of the maximum clearance to turn on the emergency light of a vehicle. Thereby, accidents are prevented previously.
