LASER INITIALIZATION IN OPTICAL TRANSCEIVER UNDER CONTROL OF FIRMWARE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize an optical output power level of a laser in an early stage after starting operating an optical transceiver module.

SOLUTION: Within an optical transceiver module 30, a transmitter 32 is incorporated. A microcontroller 36 biases the laser of the transmitter 32 with an initial bias value to emit the laser and detects the power level of the laser via a laser output power detection circuit. When the power level is not within a predetermined range, the microcontroller 36 regulates the bias value to adjust the light emission power level of the laser.
