<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability of control regarding the output of a laser beam emitted from a semiconductor laser. <P>SOLUTION: This device is provided with a prism 10 having a light reflection surface 10a on which a light reflection film 11 is formed to reflect a laser beam emitted from a semiconductor laser 7 and a light transmission surface 10b for transmitting the laser beam emitted from the semiconductor laser but not in the opening region of an objective lens 100, and bonded to a semiconductor substrate 5, a monitor light receiving element 8 arranged in a region in which the prism of the semiconductor substrate is arranged to receive the laser beam transmitted through the light transmission surface, and a signal detection light receiving element 12 adapted to receive a laser beam reflected on the light reflection surface of the prism and condensed on the recording surface of a disk shape recording medium 200 through the objective lens as a return light, and arranged outside the region in which the prism of the semiconductor substrate is arranged. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
