PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a change in the concentration, absolute value or the like of specific absorbing components in a scattering body having a shape of various kinds with high spatial resolution without being affected by the outer shape of the scattering body. SOLUTION: This measuring apparatus is equipped with a light source for emitting pulsed light, a light incident part for allowing the pulsed light to be incident on the scattering body, a light detection part for detecting the light propagated through an object to be measured, a signal detection part for temporally segmenting a part of the light signal obtained in the light detection part and acquiring a measurement signal corresponding to the segmented signal, a first arithmetic part which performs measurement for acquiring respective measuring signals at a plurality of different timings and derives the time integrated values and the average optical path lengths with respect to a plurality of the measuring signals and a second arithmetic part for calculating the change quantity of the concentration of an absorbing component based on a predetermined relation between a plurality of time integrated values, a plurality of average optical path lengths, the absorption coefficient per unit concentration of the absorbing component and the change quantity of the concentration of the absorbing component.
