PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot-melt conjugate fiber with reduced heat shrinkage, having good card web forming properties. SOLUTION: The hot-melt conjugate fiber is produced in a high speed melt spinning method. The conjugate fiber comprises a first resin component with≥40% of orientation index and a second resin component having a melting point lower than the melting point or softening point of the first resin component and having≤25% of orientation index. The second resin component exists continuously in the longitudinal direction on one or more parts of the surface of the fiber. The thermal crimping rate of the conjugate fiber is preferably≤0.5% at a temperature of 10°C higher than the melting point or softening point of the second resin component.
