PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer system having an extended device controller where memory quantity to be used at initialization by an extended BIOS and at the time of booting of the computer system is reduced. SOLUTION: This computer system is configured so that a system BIOS 20 can be executed at the time of booting it, and that an extended BIOS 41 can be executed when the extended BIOS 41 exists. This computer system is provided with an extended device controller 40 for controlling a corresponding extended device 50 and an extended BIOS 41 installed corresponding to the extended device controller 40. The extended BIOS 41 is mounted so as to be divided into routines to be individually developed and executed corresponding to respective execution phases, and when the extended BIOS 41 is executed, only the necessary routines are developed in the extended BIOS area 32 on the memory 30 corresponding to the respective execution phases.
